The President of FISH-NL says the green crab problem must be taken seriously.
The voracious and aggressive invasive species has taken over parts of Placentia Bay and the south coast and has spread to other areas of the province as well including the Bay of Islands.
Ryan Cleary encountered green crab himself on a recent trip to Swift Current and says the problem must be addressed.
He calls it a crisis and fears the creatures will take over and destroy lobster, eel grass and other species.
