The forest fire hazard map shows parts of the province are under extreme risk, including the eastern half.
The St. John’s-Metro area well as Clarenville and the Burin Peninsula all show a high warning – meaning fires may start easily, burn quickly, and challenge suppression efforts.
The Bay Du Nord area including Conne River and St Alban’s show an extreme warning, while parts of central Newfoundland from Glenwood to Grand Falls-Windsor and Twillingate show a very high risk.
This means burning permits are suspended, open fires including campfires are prohibited and industrial activities may be restricted.
The west coast and Northern Peninsula show a low risk.
