Flooding of the Muskrat Falls Reservoir is expected to begin tomorrow.
Nalcor energy says they have completed all pre-impoundment activities at the site, and they anticipate water levels in the reservoir will begin to increase later this evening.
Water levels are expected to rise to about 30 metres in the coming days. The required elevation of 39 meters is expected to be reached by the end of September.
The flooding of the reservoir is an important step to achieving first power from Muskrat Falls, which is expected by the end of this year.
Nalcor Energy is expected to release the first report on reservoir impoundment next week.
