The JAG hotel expansion is one step closer to reality.
St. John’s City Council has adopted the resolutions needed, in principle, to rezone the land for the development. The expansion will see additional hotel space, as well as a concert hall added in the area.
St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen says there have been some tweaks to the design of the proposed structure.
There have been changes to the overhang of the building and to the parkette.
Breen says the development means good things for the downtown. He says having facilities like the JAG means more people are going to be attracted to the downtown, which is what they want.
Now that the rezoning has been adopted in principle by council, the next step for the amendments will be sent to the provincial government for release.
