Another report today of a large black cat sighting in the province – this one east of Deer Lake.
Bill Bennett told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly he recently travelled across the island via the Trans-Canada Highway, and says he spotted the large, black animal walking across the highway.
Bennett described it as a clear, bright sunny day, and says the large, black creature gently jogged across the highway about 200 metres ahead, and disappeared into the brush.
Bennett says there were two others in the vehicle with him, and they all agreed the creature was a cat-like animal with a long, sloping tail.
He says it did not look like a coyote or a lynx. He says it looked like a photo of a black panther or a cougar.
