The 43rd annual folk festival is kicking off tonight in St. John’s with less than ideal weather conditions.
The opening ceremonies start at 6:30 this evening with the Wape’k Muin Drum Group and The Ode to Newfoundland being sung by 14-year-old songstress Abigale, who hails from Hodge’s Cove.
Some of the headliners this weekend include Tim Baker, Denis Parker, Bill and Joel Plaskett, the Mark Hiscock Band and over a hundred other performers throughout the weekend.
The festival will be happening all weekend long from 10 a.m. till late in the evenings.
The festival wraps up on Sunday evening with performances by Sherry Ryan, Rum Ragged and others.
