An 18-year-old from Labrador City is facing a number of charges after evading police on a dirt bike, twice.
On Wednesday (August 7th), RNC officers noticed a dirt bike on a roadway, operating in a dangerous manner. They tried to stop the bike, but once they turned their lights on, the driver sped off.
In the interest of public safety, officers stopped the chase and continued to patrol the area.
Less than 10 minutes later, police spotted the same dirt bike in the same area of Wabush. Police turned on their lights, and once again the driver took off.
Later that day, as a result of an investigation into the incidents, the 18-year-old boy was arrested and charged with two counts of flight from police, and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released from custody to appear at a later date, and the dirt bike was seized by police.
