Around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to a call of smoke coming from the back of Bishop’s College – a high school that closed its doors in 2015.
Firefighters responded quickly and entered the building to discover a small fire in the gymnasium. The crews remained at the scene to ventilate the building which took longer than expected due to high ceilings and humid weather.
Crews still breaking windows and ventilating this piece of the partially-demolished building. I'm still behind a dumpster. #nltraffic @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/cpWFmm77Jj

There were no injuries and nobody was inside at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
VOCM is following the story and will have more updates as they become available.
