The RNC is reminding the public that vehicles like dirt bikes are not designed or intended for use on public roads after an 18-year-old in Labrador was arrested for dangerous operation among other things.
Last Wednesday, RNC officers noticed a dirt bike on a roadway in Wabush being operated in a dangerous manner. They tried to stop the bike, but when they turned their lights on, the driver sped off.
Less than 10 minutes later, the same thing happened. In the interest of public safety, officers stopped the chase and continued to patrol the area.
Later that day, as a result of an investigation into the incidents, the 18-year-old boy, who’s from Lab City, was arrested and charged with two counts of flight from police, and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released from custody to appear at a later date, but the dirt bike was seized.
