Senior meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, Tabea Fiechter, says the tropical air mass was narrow and very localized with some parts of the northeast Avalon receiving as little as a single mm of rain.
She says it has been an unusual year for thunderstorms. Rhey didn’t send out a single thunderstorm watch or warning last year but this year they have been going out regularly.
