St. John’s City Council will vote on the location of the new Mews Centre on Monday. The city has released its document outlining what it heard during recent public consultations on two proposed locations.
The city is considering two separate sites – one across from the current Mews Centre on a gravel parking lot, and the other on the site of the soccer field off Blackler Avenue. Public opinion is leaning towards the Blackler Avenue option.
However, concerns remain. They include worries about children crossing the pond in winter, increased traffic, and loss of green space. Others questioned the potential risk of flooding as the soccer field is an infill area.
City council will vote on the location this Monday.
Public engagement on a proposed replacement location for the H.G.R Mews Centre at Mundy Pond Park took place during July.
The 'What we Heard' document is available online.
Council will vote on the proposed location on Mon. Aug. 19.
