The founding member of the Save Our People Action Committee says things have become too relaxed when it comes to keeping the province’s roadways safe from moose.
Eugene Nippard was in a moose vehicle accident himself in 2002 and formed SOPAC in 2009. Since then he’s been very vocal on the need for moose fencing and brush clearing, and remains a member of SOPAC but is no longer on the executive.
Speaking on VOCM Open Line with Linda Swain, Nippard says it feels like a losing battle. He says SOPAC is not speaking out enough, and feels government isn’t taking the issue seriously.
He points out the province is still seeing some 500 moose vehicle accidents a year.
