Expect to hear a whole lot more about a newly formed group of young volunteers who are making waves in the community.
Go Getters NL, a pilot project of the Community Sector Council is made up of 23 young people between the ages of 19 and 30.
All the members have made a 120-hour commitment to community participation. This weekend Go Getters NL is joining force with Bridges to Hope for a food drive.
Engagement Coordinator with Go Getters NL, Lindsey Hynes says the program runs until March of 2020.
She says they’ve already attended St. John’s City Council meetings, met with other community service group like Rotary, and the St. John’s Board of Trade. They’ve even undergone Cultural Humility Training with First Light NL.
The group is now ready to start doing community work, which will be led by the young people themselves.
The food drive takes place this Saturday, August 24th at Coleman’s Grocery Store on Newfoundland Drive in St. John’s.
