The Canadian Coast Guard now has a new search and rescue station in Old Perlican.
It’s one of three new locations around the island from where search and rescue craft can be launched in case of emergency. There are seven stations in total.
The other two new stations are located in St. Anthony and Twillingate.
The Canadian Coast Guard vessel Sacred Bay will be stationed at the new wharf and floating dock.
