The Council Lead on Traffic with the city of St. John’s says those charged a $5 dollar surcharge on parking metres will be reimbursed.
Debbie Hanlon says it’s an issue with BMO Mastercard and is not only be charged at parking meters in the capital city, it is a national issue.
It’s identified by the company as a fine and not as parking, leading to an additional fee, says Hanlon.
She says the city is working with Pay by Phone to correct it, and it’s her understanding that those charged the fee, will be reimbursed.
