The 64-year-old woman was found dead on the shoreline within the community by local fishermen. She is believed to have lost her footing and fell while walking near the ocean.
Holyrood and Ferryland RCMP responded to the scene on Saturday and were assisted by members of the local fire department due to the difficult terrain and location.
The cause of death at this time has yet to be determined and the Holyrood detachment is currently working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the community of Bacon Cove is in shock following the incident.
Mayor of Conception Harbour, Craig Williams says the community is reeling and the victim was always friendly while out walking.

He says she was always talkative with the residents of Bacon Cove when taking her daily walks.
The two fishermen who found the woman were actually her neighbors.
Williams says to his knowledge, nothing like this has ever happened although the cliff side can be dangerous.
