Tropical Storm Erin is expected to emerge in the next 24 hours, with a path leading right to the island for the end of the week.
The current Tropical Depression Six is moving up the eastern seaboard of the US as it intensifies into a storm.
Doug Mercer of the Canadian Hurricane Centre says southwestern Newfoundland will be the first in this province to feel the effects. The main issues will primarily be rainfall and wind, says Mercer.
Tropical Depression Six is still expected to become Tropical Storm #Erin in the next 24 hours. However, it will become post-tropical Thursday and merge with a system over the Maritimes. Mercer says there is still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the system as it could veer further right from its current trajectory and have more of an impact on the Avalon.
Currently, it looks like western, central and south will bear the brunt, but that could change.
