The Provincial Government is moving forward with the reinstatement of the Electronic Monitoring Program.
More than $250,000 was included in the 2019 budget for the pilot program.
A request for proposals was issued looking for a supplier of the devices that will use GPS and a radio frequency option to monitor offenders movements 24/7.
The devices are used with offenders that are serving community and custody based sentences says the department of Justice and Public Safety.
The devices can allow offenders to continue working but they will also improve safety for victims, staff and the public, they say.
