An MHA wants the provincial government to make wider use of cameras in our education system to make things safer for students.
Paul Lane, independent MHA for Mount Pearl-Southlands, says cameras should be installed on school buses.
He says a number of jurisdictions across the country have cameras on the stop arms of school buses as a deterrent to illegal passing and to help with prosecutions of those who do decide to pass.
He wants to see a pilot project with a small number of buses this year in a high-traffic volume area where problems have been identified.
