After a number of collisions on the Burin Peninsula over the past week, police are asking drivers to use caution while driving this Labour Day weekend.
While some involved moose, others did not and police are suspecting distracted driving.
Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to three collisions on Friday, one involved a moose, another a family in a single-vehicle leaving the road, and the third was a rollover collision. There were no serious injuries reported.
Two recent reports involved vehicles that crossed over the center line, causing the crashes as weather and road conditions were favourable at the time. Police are looking at factors like distracted driving, speeding and/or sleepy drivers.
Meanwhile, on Thursday morning at around 8:30 a.m. police stopped a 61-year-old man from Marystown for excessive speeding as he was caught doing 146 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
His vehicle was seized for three days, his license suspended and was handed charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
