Fire crews made quick work of a fire in centre city St. John’s late yesterday morning.
Acting Platoon Chief Gerry O’Neill, with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department says they received the call of a fire on Goodridge Street at about 11:15 a.m.
When they arrived at the scene a few minutes later they found smoke coming from number 46, a bunglaow-style home.
One of the three occupants home at the time was still inside the house, and was quickly found by firefighters. He was treated by paramedics on the scene for smoke inhalation.
The other two occupants of the home suffered no injuries. Two pet rabbits were seen outside, and appeared unharmed.
The fire in the home was quickly knocked down, causing moderate damage. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
