Government is spending $176,000 on four new initiatives for local organizations to assist foreign-trained workers to use their training in this province.
They include $49,000 for CNA to develop a 10-week program that will focus on job search and employability skills.
$49,000 for the Association of New Canadians, to develop an employer-focused unit including employer testimonial videos.
$42,000 for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Education, to develop an international teacher application process and assessment.
And $36,000 for Chartered Professional Accountants Newfoundland and Labrador, to develop an internal process plan for foreign trained people to get their local designation.
Minister Bernard Davis says “by recognizing their credentials, we enable them to pursue employment in their field of choice right here at home.”
