The Basilica was filled today by people wishing to pay their final respects to a man who was one of our foremost authorities on all things Newfoundland and Labrador.
Church officials estimate some 3,000 people turned out to honour and remember Larry Dohey, who died suddenly last week at the age of 59.
Interest was so great that close to 300 people were left standing.

Dohey and VOCM’s Brian O’Connell hosted Archival Moments on the VOCM-Big Land Radio Network each weekend, a program which revealed many things about our past and how they helped form our society into what it is today.
Father Wayne Dohey, @LarryDohey’s brother, delivered the homily. It was heartfelt and hilarious. Dohey said his family has been “overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.” @VOCMNEWS @ocathome @590VOCM pic.twitter.com/EujhEO74WS
