While Summer may be winding down, the cruise ship season is about to ramp up in St. John’s.
During last night’s city council meeting, Debbie Hanlon announced that so far this season, 17 cruise ships and roughly 20,000 passengers have come through the narrows for a stop in St. John’s.
Hanlon says it will be a busy fall down in the harbour, as the majority of ships to visit the city are yet to come. She says another 20 ships are scheduled to visit between now and October 27, bringing another 16,000 tourists to the city. She says this has been the busiest year for cruise ships the city has ever seen.
Speaking of cruise ships, there will be one down in the harbour today.
The Star Pride, with about 212 passengers on board, will be downtown from 8:00 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m. today.
Parking will be restricted on Harbour Drive as a result until 5:00 p.m. this afternoon.
