Uncertainty surrounding the forecast has prompted the postponement of work on the Trans-Canada Highway near Avondale.
Hurricane Dorian is making its way up the eastern seaboard, and is expected to bring intense winds and rain to parts of the island.
Transportation and Works says the culvert replacements have been tentatively rescheduled to begin on Friday the 13th.
In the meantime, lane reductions in the area will resume Monday.
Work to replace culverts on the TCH at Avondale originally planned for this weekend has been postponed due to the uncertainty around pending weather.
