Residents of Holyrood are the latest in the province to find themselves with one less family doctor.
A local GP closed her practice at the end of August, leaving thousands searching for a new family doctor.
The issue was raised at a recent town council meeting. Councillor Kim Ghaney says it’s caused a lot of stress and uncertainty among residents of Holyrood and beyond.
She says the practice was a large one, with some 1,500 to 2,000 patients on the caseload.
She told the VOCM Morning Show they’re reaching out to Eastern Health for support. Ghaney, who is part of the rural patient monitoring program with Eastern Health, says they’re open to a number of options.
While they’d like to see a family doctor come to Holyrood, they’re also open to nurse practitioners and even the use of technology.
