The Opposition is concerned about several aspects of an agreement between the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the third cannabis grow operation in the province.

The deal allows for millions of dollars in tax breaks but will result in the creation of nearly 120 full-time jobs. Atlantic Cultivation broke ground on the Kenmount Road facility yesterday.

Government took the unusual step in making the announcement of naming the three owners of Atlantic Cultivation.

Tory critic and Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott says the companies in all three cases, including Canopy Grow in the east end of St. John’s, have ties to the Liberal Party.

In the latest one, Cynthia Crosbie, the wife of Liberal Party president John Allen, is one-third owner.

Parrott says without some kind of a call for expressions of interest, there are many questions to which we will never know the answer.
