Traffic was slowed in the area of Port Union and other parts of the Bonavista Peninsula this morning as some 150 cyclists hit the road for a 40km to 140km bike ride.
The BonRexton Granfondo, is the only ride of its kind in the province.
Organizer, Ryan Butt, says the event is in its second year and is gaining traction because it is a non-competitive and welcoming ride.
He says that is more inviting to participants, and GranFondos are increasing in popularity everywhere.
The event began at 8 a.m. and ends at the Port Rexton Brewery for a craft beer and a meal provided by Round the Bay Inn.
