A town on the province’s west coast is urging cabin and trailer owners to head home as they await the arrival of the remnants of hurricane Dorian.
The Town of Stephenville is evacuating owners in two different areas of town, Little Port Harmon and Harmon Seaside Park.
Mayor Tom Rose says relocating the residents is not as an issue since most of the people have homes in Stephenville or in nearby communities.
He says as of Saturday afternoon at 3:45p.m., winds are not high but people are ready for the worst.
Rose says they are prepared and have taken all situations into consideration since they have experienced storm surges and isolation of certain parts of town in the past.
He says they have a great emergency plan in place with two emergency shelters, the Lion’s Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, located in two different parts of town. He says they are well prepared.
