“Our family went through four days of hell.”
That’s according to a woman from Central Newfoundland who says her father was falsely told he was dying.
Donna Roberts says her 85-year-old father took ill on August 26. Their doctor in Springdale decided it would be best to send him to Grand Falls-Windsor for treatment.
It was there that her father was told he only had hours to live, as his heart was failing and kidneys had shut down. He was placed into palliative care and transferred back to Springdale to be closer to family.
Roberts says that was when they received some startling news.
The doctor who saw her father initially was shocked to see him placed in palliative care. He told Roberts that her father was sent to Grand Falls-Windsor as he thought they could do more for him there. If he thought the man was dying, he would have kept him in Springdale.
Roberts says her father is doing very well now, but the situation could have been dire if her father stayed in Grand Falls-Windsor.
She believes he might have passed away in the matter of days as they also took away his usual medication.
Roberts says she’s meeting with the hospital to discuss what happened.
