A man with a special connection to a Canadian Icon is in St. John’s today to help launch the annual Terry Fox Run, 39 years after his namesake dipped his prosthetic leg in St. John’s Harbour to start his Marathon of Hope.
Terry’s nephew Terrance is back in Newfoundland to keep up the tradition and mark the largest annual cancer fundraising effort in the country.
St. John’s is where Terry’s Marathon of Hope started and continues to this day. Terrance believes the event is symbolic of handing off a torch.
There are two runs in the metro region, one at Quidi Vidi Lake at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m. at Octagon Pond in Paradise, along with more than 700 other locations across Newfoundland and Labrador, and Canada.
Terry left us all with a dream that one day we will find a cure. Help us realize his dream by joining us for tomorrows Terry Fox Run for cancer research. Together we truly can make a difference. Walk – Run – Ride – Alll are welcome. https://t.co/UmA1t86XAP pic.twitter.com/NeLVVJhJLt
