Fans down at the Iceberg Alley Performance Tent were treated to a special surprise on Saturday night when three of Great Big Sea’s four original members teamed up for a reunion performance.
However, for those performing on stage it was a special moment as well.
To close out his show on Saturday night, Alan Doyle invited former bandmates Darrell Power and Bob Hallett on stage to sing a few songs for old times’ sake, only missing Sean McCann.

The impromptu performance came to the delight of the crowd, and the thrill of the performance didn’t end there.
Power says having three of the original bandmembers in the same room at the same time is a rarity. He says the last time they all played together would have been in 2013 and although they talk on the phone all the time, they are never together in the same place.
Alan Doyle says there are some moments in a music career that are imperfect, but that wasn’t one of them.
Doyle told Darrell Power on VOCM’s Sunday Drive that their careers are a lot like golf. He says there are imperfect swings but then you make one good swing and become hooked again.
He says Saturday night’s performance was one of those moments for him.
He says it was a gig people hope they can get one time in their life and it happened “right in his own backyard.” Doyle says he is grateful for the moment.
