With fall coming on and winter not far behind, not everyone in our community has warm enough clothes to get them through the cold weather.
VOCM Cares begins its Coats for Kids Campaign tomorrow, and they have a new official drop-off location for the program this year.
Tara Haley from VOCM Cares says they go through hundreds of coats each year. She says they have NF Power with locations across the island, the Canadian Red Cross in Labrador, and a lot of the schools in the metro area helping out as well.
As well, this year they’ve teamed up with the Huffin’ Puffin Marathon as an official drop-off location. The marathon takes place on September 22, beginning at 7:00 a.m. in Bowring Park. People are invited to bring their gently used or new coats, hats and mittens to the park to drop them off between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Donations are also being accepted at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1, at 57 Blackmarsh Road, and VOCM Studios at 391 Kenmount Road from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Further locations across the province will be announced at VOCMcares.com.
