Rick Mercer, a well-known Newfoundland comedian and political satirist, says an image showing his face and quoting him on the importance of voting, while at the same time suggesting that young people vote Conservative, is fake.
The meme was shared by CPC candidate for Burnaby North-Seymour, Heather Leung. It was brought to Mercer’s attention on Twitter today.
The original quote ends with the word “vote”, however the end quote was taken off and the word “Conservative” was added.
Mercer’s response when asked if he was asking people to vote Conservative was, “Nope. Not real. Just a straight up fake by the candidate i guess.”
