A new Angus Reid poll shows the Conservatives holding the lead nationally, and that was before the Trudeau brownface controversy.
The poll, from Angus Reid Institute shows the CPC maintaining a three-point gap at 36 per cent of leaning and decided voters, over the Liberals 33 per cent. The other federal parties all trail by at least ten percentage points.
This from the period of September 13-16, before photos and video of Justin Trudeau surfaced showing him in brownface while working as a teacher for a Vancouver private school.
As of last weekend only eight per cent of voters considering either of the two lead parties identified Trudeau as being racist, compared to 35 per cent for Andrew Scheer.
However it’s still anybody’s game, as 46 per cent of those polled said they were still not particularly attracted to any party.
The Angus Reid Institute conducted an online survey from Sept. 13 – 16, 2019 among a representative randomized sample of 2,154 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/- 2.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
