Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is not calling for Justin Trudeau’s resignation, but he is condemning the Prime Minister for a series of images released to media of Justin Trudeau in brownface/blackface.
Singh addressed reporters this afternoon following the controversy surrounding Trudeau and images of him in various costumes that include dark makeup.
Trudeau apologized publicly last night, saying he was “disappointed and pissed off” with himself.
Tonight is not about the Prime Minister.
It's about every young person mocked for the colour of their skin.
The child who had their turban ripped off their head.
And those reliving intense feelings of pain & hurt from past experiences of racism.
To you, I say you are loved.

Singh says he’s deeply troubled by the incidents and the impact they may have on those who have experienced racism directly.
He says young kids are going to see multiple images of the Prime Minister mocking their lived reality.
