Two of the federal NDP candidates in the metro area are touting the importance of the party’s proposed dental care plan for the people of the province.
The plan would make dental services free for households with an income of less than $70,000 per year.
For households with an income of less than $90,000 dental care would be subsidized on a sliding scale.
NDP candidate for St. John’s East, Jack Harris and Anne Marie Anonsen, candidate for St. John’s South-Mount Pearl, says the plan would help more than half of the people in this province.
Harris says he thinks it is long overdue that people don’t have to suffer with a lack of dental care because they can’t afford it.
He says the plan is preventative care and covers services such as examinations, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, crowns, root canals and braces for non-cosmetic purposes.
