A 25-year-old hunter, who suffered head injuries after his ATV rolled over, had to be airlifted to hospital on the weekend.
The man was in the area of Fox Island River about 30 kilometres north of Cold Brook at the time of the accident, late Saturday night.
RCMP, along with help from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Eastern Health, Western Health and the Stephenville-Kippens-Port-au-Port Ground Search and Rescue team, worked together through the night to locate the injured man and airlift him to hospital in Corner Brook.
He was treated and released.
Alcohol was not a factor, and an uneven distribution of weight on the ATV appears to have caused the mishap.
Police are reminding hunters to use caution when transporting animals via ATV and not to overload given the potential for rollover in rough terrain.
