An event designed to remember missing and murdered women and girls has been redesigned and renamed.

The “Sisters in Spirit Vigil for Missing and Murdered Women and Girls” (formerly In Her Name) will be spread out over a week. The Sisters in Spirit Vigil takes place October 4.

Laura Winters, the executive director of the St. John’s Status of Women Council, says although the previous “In Her Name” was an important event, there was a strong desire for additional opportunities to come together and receive support.

As in previous years, all events are open to the public.
