The service gives police first responders, through their dispatcher, critical information like a recent photo, physical descriptions, wandering history, behavior management strategies such as anxiety triggers and de-escalation techniques, along with caregiver information.
A spokesperson for MedicAlert says the partnership between police and MedicAlert has worked well in other areas across the country in helping those living with autism, Alzheimer’s, dementia, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum disorders, mental health related issues, and cognitive brain injuries.
Dispatchers in all three RNC regions – Northeast Avalon, Corner Brook and Labrador West – will have access to the national database of registered subscribers.

Dispatchers in all three RNC regions—Northeast Avalon, Corner Brook and Labrador West—will have access to the national database of registered subscribers.
It costs $60 a year to register—or $5 a month—but for those in need who can’t afford it, MedicAlert will provide assistance.
