Honey the Greyhound is home safe and sound after nine days of roaming freely in the area of Southlands near Galway.
Julie Myles, President of Greyhound Pets NL, says she headed right for her bed when she entered her home and only came back with sore paws and a few pounds lighter.
The friendly pup, who has only been in the province for three short months, was not totally lost as she did stay in the general area of Southlands. Myles says Honey seemed confused.
She says the problem they faced was Honey was gone as soon as they spotted her throughout the week. She says they were, however, able to track her schedule.
Myles says Greyhounds are raised as race dogs, making this situation not unusual.
She says when Honey was given an opportunity to run, she took it because that’s what they do and they love to run.
