Newly-unionized pilots with PAL Airlines are accusing the company of unfair labour practices.
The Air Line Pilots Association became the bargaining agent for PAL pilots in June, but they say the company has unilaterally altered the existing work rules without consulting the union.
They say the company reduced the pay scale of some pilots by not recognizing seniority, altered their vacation system, implemented new rules which discourage pilots from calling in sick, and is forcing them to buy their own technology—such as iPads—even though it’s a work tool.
PAL Airlines says they look forward to beginning negotiations with the pilots’ association, and they intend to maintain a positive relationship with the pilot group.
