Twenty police and peace officers killed in the line of duty since 1830 were remembered in a memorial ceremony on the weekend.
17th annual Police and Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony was held on the grounds of Confederation Building Sunday.
The 17th Annual Police and Peace Officer’s Memorial Parade and Ceremony in this province commemorates 20 police and peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in NL since 1830.

Family members and and more than 100 members of multiple peace-keeping organizations turned out along with the Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote and Minister Bernard Davis.
Carla Peddle was there with her family, including her two children, to support her husband Andrew, who was one of the RNC officers in the parade ceremony. She says its always been important to Andrew to become a police officer, she is very proud of him and they wanted to come and honour those that have fallen.
Wreaths were laid on the memorial by dignitaries while officers and families watched on in the rain.
