Four teenagers are facing charges after a stolen car driving at a high rate of speed in Witless Bay late Sunday night sped from RCMP and almost got to the Trans-Canada Highway before crashing.
The driver zinged across the Witless Bay Line where the car struck a guard rail as they were attempting to enter onto the Trans-Canada Highway.
RCMP say the four, all of whom range in age from 14 to 17, got out of the vehicle on foot but were immediately located and taken into custody. All are from St. John’s. Checks on the vehicle revealed that it was reported stolen from St. John’s.
The driver faces a number of charges including flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The three occupants face charges of possession of property obtained by crime and breaches of probation.
