A local funeral director has launched a Continuing Education program for funeral professionals.
Geoff Carnell says funeral directors need six continuing education hours every two years, and he felt something “new and refreshing” was needed to fill that need.
Carnell told VOCM Morning Show co-host Gerri Lynn Mackey that he’s created a website to allow funeral professionals an opportunity for continuing education.
He says it consists of three-hour or six-hour modules, containing various chapters including topics like funerals of the future, honouring those who served, the grieving process and any number of other topics related to the funeral service.
Carnell says it includes a test and evaluation feature and a Certificate of Completion that is printed out as the process is successfully completed.
It has been approved by the province’s regulatory board and they’re hoping to introduce it across the country.
