The City of Mount Pearl is unable to offer further comment on a leave of absence being taken by its top bureaucrat.
Steve Kent took to social media this week to announce that he’s taking a leave of absence to “deal with a personal matter.”
So I'm presently on leave from work in order to deal with a personal matter. Please know that I'm fine. And my family is great, despite the challenges that come with the transition from baseball season to hockey season and a new school year! 🙂

Public speculation has been rife since the revelation, but Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says it’s business as usual at city hall.
Aker says he is unable to offer any comment on the development, and can’t answer any questions related to public speculation.
Kent is a former Mount Pearl Mayor and PC MHA for Mount Pearl North. He took over as City Manager in September of 2017.
