The Insurance Bureau of Canada estimates that Dorian cost Newfoundland and Labrador $2.5-million, far less than the other Atlantic Provinces.
Dorian primarily struck the west coast of Newfoundland and southern Labrador. It had begun as a Category four hurricane before losing strength as it approached Atlantic Canada.
Nova Scotia was hardest hit with damages pegged at $62.2-million, New Brunswick $22-million and PEI $17.5-million. Fortis, the parent company of Newfoundland Power, also operates the grid in PEI. Numerous lines and poles were damaged in the storm.
