The St. John’s Farmer’s Market played host to an Eat Think Vote event on Saturday which was designed to give members of the public the opportunity to speak with federal candidates about food insecurity.
The event was organized by Food First NL and the St. John’s Food Policy Council.
Federal candidates were taking questions and mingling with market-goers.
One of the shoppers at the event says he finds supermarket produce frequently below average, especially during winter months.
He says he’d like candidates to be concerned about the quality, pricing and availablility of fresh fruits and vegetables.
