The RNC has requested that an independent investigator be brought in following a dramatic crash in Corner Brook that claimed the life of a young man.

The Constabulary says a patrol officer attempted to pull over a vehicle on Main Street around 9:30 Friday night, but the SUV failed to stop.

A resident of Lower Caribou Road tells VOCM News it appears as though the SUV, which was driving in the wrong direction on the one-way street, swerved in an apparent attempt to avoid an oncoming taxi. The SUV left the road and crashed into a house.

The RNC has requested that the Department of Justice bring in an independent agency to investigate the incident.
