The RCMP are going to handle the investigation of a fatal car crash in Corner Brook on the weekend, but the newly-minted Provincial Serious Incident Response Team is going to provide oversight. RNC called for another agency to do the investigation.
For Mike King, who was appointed head of the serious incident team only a couple of months ago, it’s his first new case.
The vehicle involved was an older model four-door Hyundai SUV. It is believed that a number of drivers travelling on Main Street, Herald Avenue and Caribou Road encountered the vehicle in the time leading up to the collision, which happened at about 9:40 p.m.
Police wish to speak with anyone who saw the vehicle around this time or witnessed the accident. They are also interested in seeing video surveillance or dash camera video from the area around the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at (709) 637-4420 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
